Richard Morrison Orvin

Richard “Rimo” Morrison Orvin, 19, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel with Tony Sedberry officiating.   Burial will be private.

Rimo was born July 5, 2001 in Scotland County.  He was the son of Donald Morrison Orvin, Jr. and Carole Lynn Whitney Orvin of the home.  He was a Scotland High School Early College Graduate of the 2019 class and a literature major at UNC Pembroke.

Rimo was a self-taught guitar player and loved playing when he was not reading.  He was kind-hearted, loved helping people and spending time with his brother and nephew.  He will be fondly remembered for always welcoming people with a hug.

In addition to his parents, Rimo is survived by his brothers, Timmothy T. Orvin of the home and Donald P. Orvin of Wilmington, NC; his maternal grandparents, Richard L. Whitney (Sandra) of Whitehall, NY and Carol T. Mattison (Glenn) of Fort Ann, NY; and paternal grandmother, Loretta P. Orvin of McColl, SC.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Amanda Leigh Orvin and his paternal grandfather, Donald M. Orvin, Sr.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 pm at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium. Due to Covid-19, please wear a face mask or another form of face covering and practice social distancing.  Attendance will be monitored for the visitation and service.
