Richard Joseph Locklear, age 56, passed away on September 14, 2024, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024 at East Laurinburg Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born on November 21, 1967, in Scotland County, he was a son of the late James Locklear and Betty Troublefield Locklear.

He survived by his wife, Doris Locklear of the home; his children, Tanya McGirt of Laurinburg, Jobina Locklear of Florence, SC, Carl Locklear of Surfside, MI, and Dustin Legg of Laurinburg; his five grandchildren; his two brothers, Teddy and Timmy Locklear, both of Laurel Hill; his special aunt, Deliliah Chavis of Maxton, and his special uncle, Jay Troublefield of Laurel Hill.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Locklear. Richard was a painter by trade.  He was always the jokester and had the ability to find humor in everyday situations.  His humor was a reflection of his approach to life.

Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the Locklear family.
