Mr. Richard R. "Dick" Harding, 77 of 1203 Franklin Ave. died Thursday, July 4, at his home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Lutheran Church of the Living Word officiated by Pastor Erich Spieker. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret F. Harding; two sons, Richard R. Harding, Jr. of Atlanta and Thomas R. Harding of Charlotte; two daughters, Judy McMillan of Laurinburg and Jeanne Marie Harding of Charlotte; a brother, Kenneth Harding of Warsaw, IN; three sisters, Shirley Helmke of Columbia City, IN, Gloria Brown of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Pat Ivins of Enterprise, AL; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Born July 4, 1925 in Ft. Wayne, he was a son of the late Ray T. and Anna Bobay Harding. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and also served in the Korean Conflict. He retired as personnel manager for REA Magnet Wire. Following his retirement was a realtor for Graham and Grubbs Realty for over 14 years.

He was member of the Laurinburg Optimist Club and coached Little League baseball in Lafayette, IN and Optimist League baseball in Laurinburg.

Memorials may be made to the Luther Church of the Living Word, 1925 S. Main St., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the American Cancer Society, 620 W. Morgan St., Raleigh, NC 27603-1830.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
