Rebecca Garner Shiver

Rebecca Garner Shiver, 87, of Biscoe passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Roger Paxton. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.

Born September 28, 1936, in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Elzie J. and Callie Grayson Garner. Becky graduated from Bessemer City High School in 1954. She attended Gaston College, graduated with a degree in Education from Sacred Heart College and a Masters from Appalachian State. She was an elementary school teacher for 32 years in Gaston and Montgomery County Schools.

Becky is survived by her children, Kayren Brantley (Joe) of Troy, Ted Shiver of Dallas, Jane Thompson (Ronnie) of Evans, GA, and Nancy Paxton (Roger) of Norman; daughter-in-law, June Shiver of Dallas; grandchildren, Geoffrey Shiver (Stephanie), Blaise Shiver, Kathy Lee (Rich), Will Brantley (Julianne), Kirstie Connor (Casey); great-grandchildren, Luke Shiver, Emma Shiver, and Lucy Connor; and her faithful companion, Little Bit. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Warren Shiver.
