Rebecca Isenhour "Becky" Hampton, 92, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 at her home.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons; Herbert Worth Hampton (Amie) of King, George Myron "Buddy" Hampton (Pat) of Rock Hill, Robert Luther "bobby" Hampton of the home, and Robert Lynn Hampton of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was born August 7, 1919 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late George Myron and Mary Menius Isenhour. Her husband, Robert Worth "Bob" Hampton preceded her in death.
Becky attended Meredith College and Catawba College where she met her husband, Bob. They moved to Laurel Hill in 1940. After teaching at the Laurel Hill School, she worked at Springfield Mill and later was the first employee hired by the Ingraham Clock Company in Laurinburg where she retired as a supervisor.
She was a longtime member of the Laurel hill United Methoodist Church where she taught and served in many capacities. Her favorite pastimes were bridge, birds, and gardening. After her retirement she often worked all day, lovingly caring for her flowers and birds. She was also known to "pack" a pistol as she worked in the yard. Anything stalking her birds was in grave danger.
