Raymond Dominick Walker

Raymond Dominick Walker departed this earthly life Thursday, September 1, 2022.  He was 53 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8th at Joseph Temple AME Church located at 1134 S. Caledonia Rd. in Laurinburg and will be officiated by Rev. Brenda Prince.  Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Born on Friday, December 27, 1968 in Monroe County, NY, he was the son of the late Rev. Raymond E. Walker and Cordella Purnell Walker.  Raymond was a 1987 graduate of Scotland High School and played football at Lenoir Rhyne University. After his time at Lenoir Rhyne he returned to NY and attended Monroe Community College where he pursued his passion for precision tool and dye making.   He loved drag racing and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys.  Upon returning home to Laurinburg, Raymond married Charlette Lane Walker, and they had two children; a daughter, Renea Walker, and a son, Eddie Walker, both of Laurinburg.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father and a brother, James Walker.

To cherish his memory, his mother, Cordella Walker; his three children; Renea Walker and Eddie Walker of Laurinburg, and Courtney Walker of Ohio; a granddaughter, Raven Boggan; Raymond also had a special bond with his nieces Tykirah Ellerbe and Della Rose Walker and his nephew, James R. Walker; special friends Lori Gill, Ronnie Sloan, and Alvernor McLeod, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Raymond’s sense of humor and positive attitude will be missed by those who knew him.  Even as he struggled through his illness, he made everyone around him laugh and feel better.
