Ransom Odell McLeod, 95, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, officiated by Randy McLeod, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.

Born October 31, 1929, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Elton and Lilly Jane Vuncannon McLeod. Ransom grew up to be a man of strong values and unwavering dedication to his family and faith.

Ransom lived a life full of devotion and service. He was a steadfast member of the Gospel Holiness Church in Candor. His love for music and worship was evident through his involvement with the County Echos Band, where he played an instrumental role in spreading joy and faith throughout churches and in the surrounding counties.

Ransom is survived by his sons, Randy O. McLeod, Jr. of Star, James McLeod of Greensboro, and Edward Lee McLeod of Ramseur; and his daughters, Barbara Gayle McLeod of Star and Amanda Gayle Stevens of Seagrove; brother, Hubert McLeod of Star; sister, Loretta Garner of Robbins; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Gayle Moore McLeod, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories.
