Ramon Luis 'Popi' Esteves, Jr., 72, of 401 Sherbrooke Circle, died Thursday, September 2, 1999 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10:00AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Laurinburg, NC. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Born October 20, 1926 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Ramon L. and Valeriana Jimenez Esteves. A retired candy maker with Bartens Candy Company, Mr. Esteves was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; Laura DeJesus Esteves of the home; a son, Raymond Esteves of Roselle Park, NJ; four daughters, Laura E. Elrashedy of Elizabeth, NJ, Valeriana Esteves-Jute of Laurinburg, Lydia Miranda of Poundridge, NY and Sarai Esteves-Pye of Bethlehem,PA: three brothers, Felix Esteves of Bellville, NJ, Natalio Esteves of Chicago, IL, and Getulio Esteves of Florida; four sisters; Maria Arrocho, Antonio Acevedo and Hela Esteves all of Puerto Rico and Ramona Miranda of Clearwater, FL. Six grandchildren: Samantha Jute, Nicole Jute, Christopher Miranda, Juilette Miranda, Bryanna Pye, and Renae Esteves also survive him.

The family will be receiving friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
