Raiford D. Baxley, Jr. of Wagram passed away at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC February 15, 2017. He was born in Washington, NC on December 29, 1941. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Nealy Baxley, and his parents, Raiford D. Baxley, Sr. and Helen Louise Tuten Reynolds (Baxley).
Raiford had many skills. He was an expert large and small engine mechanic and a knowledgeable employee of Scotland Hardware for many years. He was a talented musician and known in the area as an accomplished fiddle player of old-time and square dance music. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Misty Lynn Collins (Jimmy) of Wagram; sister, Dr. Mary John Baxley of Greensboro; brothers, Douglas W. Baxley (Dianne) of Shallotte, John R. Baxley (Jane) of San Diego, CA and sisters, Rebecca A. Reynolds and Sue D. Reynolds of San Diego.
A graveside service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery, Wagram, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Harry Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
