Raegan Nicole Blackmon

September 5, 2005 — December 23, 2023

Troy

Raegan Blackmon, age 18, passed away unexpectedly December 23, 2023. We remember her inner and outer beauty, her sweetness, her genuineness, her kindhearted soul, infectious smile, contagious laugh, her ability to bring joy to others, her steadfast strength in all her duties, her strive for excellence, her brilliance of mind, and her friendship to so many! She had a great love for her family and pets, and an ability to show her love to others. She was a blessing to others; shown in devotion as a daughter, as a sister, as a niece, a granddaughter, as a cousin, as a friend and as a girlfriend to Thomas Maness.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.  Burial will be private.

Raegan was born to parents, Gary and Janet Blackmon on September 5, 2005. Her brother, Austin, arrived two years later. Together, they made a family full of love, who were out for adventure. She loved playing board games with her family. She was an athlete and excelled in many years of softball. She was a Christian who loved Jesus. She would hope for others to learn about the Lord and find salvation through him.

Raegan was a senior at Montgomery Early College where she excelled academically. She was dually enrolled in Montgomery Community College and, in addition to her high school diploma, was set to graduate this coming spring with an Associate Degree. She was an employee for the Town of Troy, where she enjoyed all those that she worked with.

Raegan’s life was taken in a car wreck caused by a reckless driver. This wreck badly injured her boyfriend, Thomas. She loved him and would want us to help him any way that we can, as losing her is a great heartache, as it is for her family and close friends.

Raegan would want to send a message to others to strive to be good citizens, to obey laws, to drive safely, to strive to do right, to build lives that matter for good. To have positive impact, we need to do the next right thing, to love with our whole hearts, to get into a church, to be good role models to others, to live our lives to honor her memory, to do the things she would have wanted to do had she lived.

Raegan has been described as an admirable, inspiring person, fun-loving, a person cheering others on to excel and one who had genuine pride in others when they did well. Please consider her as your personal inspiration to Live a Great Story!

Along with her parents, she is survived by her brother, Austin Owen Blackmon of the home; boyfriend, Thomas Maness; grandparents, Richard Sanders of Troy, Margaret Sanders of Troy, and Ronnie and Karen Smith of Biscoe; aunts and uncles, Angie Blackmon, Sherry and Dale Smith, David and Jennifer Smith, Daniel Sanders, Grant and Sabrina Gooch; cousins, Braydon Blackmon, Anthony Smith, Kenzie Smith, Shelby Smith, Gracie Smith, Aiden Sanders, Erin Sanders, Savannah Gooch, and Grayson Gooch.

In honor of Raegan’s memory, a memorial fund has been established at First Bank, PO Box 615, Troy, NC, 27371.
