Phillip Vaughn Batten, 66, of Troy passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Candor, officiated by Rev. Todd Roseman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Born May 1, 1960, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Lacy Frank and Caroline Spivey Batten. Phillip enjoyed playing his guitar and playing for charity events. He was a member of the Carolina Drive Band, and he could play any instrument. He enjoyed making guitars and amps. Phillip loved his family and his dogs. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and he never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed beekeeping and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Mount Batten of the home; daughters, Pamela Batten (Jason Simmons) and Jodi Batten Griffin (James), both of Troy; son, Stephen V. Batten of Troy; grandchildren, Matthew Pauly, Jimmy Griffin, and Layla Griffin; and great-grandchild, Jaxson Pauly. He is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Sifers; and brother, Richard Batten.
