Perry Taft Thompson, Sr.

Perry Taft Thompson, Sr., 77, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Love Joy United Methodist Church cemetery officiated by Rev. William Saunders. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please practice social distancing.

Born December 24, 1943 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Willie Taft and Stacy Jane Suggs Thompson. Perry loved his wife Margie, whom he called mama, his family, and his grandchildren. He loved to work and do his job as a correctional officer at the Southern Correctional Facility in Troy and was a great provider. Perry loved his animals, especially Roscoe and Toby.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margie Thompson of the home; daughter, Sheila Poole of Troy; sons, Perry Thompson, Jr. of Mt. Gilead and Terry Thompson of Troy; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Joe Thompson of Kentucky and Dewey Lee Thompson of Troy. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Barbie Lynn Thompson and his brothers and sisters, Olene, Jolly, Billy, Katherine, John Frank, Leroy, and Floyd.
