Patsy Parham Blackwelder, 88, of Laurinburg, passed away August 14, 2016 at Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Laurinburg officiated by Dr. Jonathan Jefferies and Rev. Patricia Stone Butson. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Ragsdale (Murphy) and Shirley Godfrey (Ronnie) both of Laurinburg, and Ann Hutton (Jim) of Mint Hill; her brothers, Charles R. Parham of Henderson and Wiley W. Parham of Oxford; grandchildren, Veronica Deak, Matt Ragsdale, Amy Kaminski, Kathryn Hutton; and great grandchildren, Anna Ragsdale and Madelyn Ragsdale.
She is preceded in death by: her husband of 59 years, Sherrill Wayne “S.W.” Blackwelder; her brothers, Samuel Oliver “S.O.”, Billy, and Parke Parham; and her sister, Edna P. Thommason.
Born October 19, 1927 in Granville County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Russell Charles and Edna Wade Parham. She was a very active member of First United Methodist Church where she attended the Betsy Sanford Sunday school class. She also maintained memberships in Emmaus Group, Stephen Minster, Polly Gibson Group and UM Women. She was very well known for her cheese biscuits and baked bread for communion for many years.
