Patty is survived by her son, Tracy Coffin; grandchildren, Steven and Amy Coffin; great grandchildren, Silas and Cadence King; cherished Daughter-in-law, Joyce Rouse; beloved boyfriend and caregiver, Gary Aston; and cousins, Joe and Annette Warner.

On Wednesday a life full of vibrancy, love, and humanity came to an end. Patty was born in the small town of Troy, North Carolina, where she was raised by family and Christianity was instilled deep in her roots. Being born during the great depression made her both tough and resilient, which served her well throughout her life. From being a top executive at an Oil Company in Texas, into her later political career at the Montgomery County Board of Elections, all the way through the physical battles that she fought much later in life. No matter where or when you saw her, she always had the most welcoming and beautiful smile and a kind word to share with a friend. Patty inherited her lovely southern belle charm that she shared with others throughout her travels across the country and among the open seas. Patty was a talented dancer and her Gary were quite the dancing duo. Patty really enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling, reading, and cooking one of her delicious meals. She was a true and pure animal lover and advocate of animals. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and be of service to anyone in need. Patty held many titles in life; “Daughter, Mother, Mimi, Friend, and Child of God”. Patty truly lived life and left a mark.

As her time was coming to end, she asked me to remember the person she was when she was at her best. Not only will we remember Patty “Mimi” we will also strive to live life to the fullest just as she did. Patty was very private and humble. Her final wish for anyone that wanted to pay their respect to her life and memory was for them to do so by spreading random acts of kindness no matter how big or small. Now we can respect the life of Patricia Routh Decker by honoring her last wish, paying a good deed forward, and loving one another. God Bless and Jesus Loves You
