Otis “Van” Davis, 78, of Star passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at Hospice of Randolph in Asheboro, surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery in Seagrove, officiated by Britt Davis. The family will receive friends from 11:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church and other times at the residence of Larry and Stephanie Cagle, 2991 US Hwy 220 Alt N., Seagrove, NC 27341.

Born March 22, 1948, in Moore County, he was a son of the late David Astor and Lois Gillis Davis. Van enjoyed cooking out, fishing, and loved helping make homemade molasses. Christmas was his favorite holiday of the year. Most of all, Van loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his brothers, Richard Davis of Troy, Barney Davis (Martha) and Gary Davis (Sandra), both of Asheboro and Danny Davis (Sue Ann) of Seagrove; sister, Ruby Schoolcraft (Chuck) of Seagrove; and nieces and nephews, Stephanie Cagle (Larry), Dustin Davis (Paige), April McCaskill, Wesley Freeman (Melissa), Jerry Davis (Elizabeth), Mark Freeman, Deanna Davis, Kyle Davis (Adrian), Danny Davis (Danica), and Hannah Schoolcraft. He is preceded in death by his brother, Albert Davis.
