Olivia Fitzgerald

Olivia Anne Fitzgerald, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2025, at her residence at the age of 77.

A funeral service will be held at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, officiated by Rev. Kellie Gallagher. Burial will be private.

Olivia was born on April 10, 1948, in Knox County, Tennessee, to the late Alexander Houston Fitzgerald, Jr. and Blanche Faulkner Fitzgerald.

Throughout her life, Olivia exemplified kindness and service. She had a career filled with passion, retiring from her role at the NC State College of Education. Olivia's heart was particularly drawn towards those in need, as evidenced by her volunteer work at Scotland Regional Hospice and her membership with the Scotland Memorial Foundation. Her time spent working at Scotland Conversation Antique Store allowed her to connect with the community. She also attended the First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg.

Described as always the first to volunteer; she went above and beyond to ease the burdens of others. Her positive outlook and unwavering support made her a true friend to many; she quietly carried the weight of the world on her shoulders without complaint or desire for recognition. She will be remembered for being a true friend, warmest and embracing attitude, always looked at the positive side of everyone and her own life. Olivia was full of inspiration and enthusiasm.

Olivia had a deep, abiding love for her brother, Alexander Houston Fitzgerald, III, of the home. She is also survived by her nephew, David Thompkins of Perry, GA.
