Effie Smith Jones, 63, passed away peacefully, at home in Maxton, on Monday, February 25, 2019.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Maxton, officiated by Rev. Sylvia Ball and Rev. Eleazar Partida. Burial will follow in the McLean Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
Effie was born on November 28, 1955 in Dillon, S.C. to the late J.D. Smith and Betty Lou Hunt. She loved spending time with family, watching the Golden Girls, singing, listening to music and baking cakes for her husband. She worked full time for Elkay Southern as a Sink packer for many years.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her beloved husband of 22 years, Ronald Jones of the home; her stepmother, Mary Bell Smith of Rowland; son, Marlon Smith (Michelle) of Austin, TX; daughters, Shandell Locklear (Troy) of Fayetteville, Krissy Jones, and Ronda Jones (Steven) both of Maxton; eight grandchildren, Amaya Davis, Alyssa Smith, Keshawn “Shawny” Rains, Shanessa Hailey, Lakenzie Chavis, Daniel Smith, Charity “C.C.” Chavis and Easton Chavis; a special pet, Eden; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to Ronald Jones at 13461 NC Hwy. 130, Maxton, NC 28364.
