Laurinburg
Mr. O. C. Sellers, Sr., 87, died Sunday, April 12.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ina Mae Long Sellers; three sons, O. C. Sellers, Jr. and wife, Mavie of St. Pauls; Oscar "Buddy" Sellers and wife, Sheila of Hamlet, and Michael Sellers and wife, Brenda of Rockingham; two daughters, Chris Woodward of Laurinburg and Sharman Thurman and husband, Michael of Raleigh; a sister, Betty Meares of Laurinburg; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Berry Sellers, Jr., Willard Sellers, Johnny Sellers, and Jack Sellers; and two sisters, Rozilla Nicholson and Abragray Furnish.
Born May 27, 1921 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Berry and Pearlie Willoughby Sellers. O. C. served with the US Navy and the US Marines in World War II. He initially served with Seaboard Railroad and later as a supervisor with Burlington Industries. He returned to Seaboard Coast Line Railroad as a conductor until his retirement. Following his retirement he worked in security with Campbell Soup.
O. C. enjoyed his family, growing a garden every year, and cars.
The family will receive friends at the home of Chris Woodward, 12481 Woodpecker Lane and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
