On August 31st, 2024, God accepted another Angel into his gates of heaven. Noland Brian Shoemaker was born on January 11 of 1967 to Noland "Frog" Shoemaker and Gail Edwards Shoemaker.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on September 7, 2024 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel. Friends and family can visit at 1:00 PM.
Born and raised in the country, from a young boy to a young man, Noland practically lived in the woods. Noland and his cousin would run through the trees, catch and eat crawdads, and steal food from neighbors' gardens. He always loved being outside and would take his kids out to lakes, rivers, and sometimes creeks. Basically, wherever we could find water when we inevitably got lost.
Noland grew up in Georgia and that is where he met the love of his life, his best friend, Paula. They would marry and stay that way until death do, they part. They chose to move to North Carolina, where Paula's family lived. Noland started working with his father-in-law Danny Morgan. They were the best painters in Montgomery County and they also became best friends over the years. Noland was a painter with over 40 years of experience and he prided himself in the quality of his work. You could not go anywhere without him showing you all the mistakes other painters made and how he would have done the work differently. He was a true talent who stuck his nose up if you used painting tape for edges. He said a steady hand was all you needed. Paula and Noland also enjoyed going to NASCAR races and the beach.
Noland was a loving father who would volunteer to coach his kids even when he didn't know anything about the sport(soccer). Even when he wasn't coaching, he would come to softball, baseball, football and soccer games and wrestling matches. He remains undefeated in wrestling against his kids and grandkids. He will forever be the champion, in truth and in our hearts. Noland was a hardworking man who did everything in his power to provide for his family. When things got hard, he didn't stop, he was a stubborn man through and through. He also had a habit of being brutally honest, he wasn't one to lie. In today's age, that honesty will be missed.
Noland was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Paula Shoemaker of the home; his children, Andriana Graham (Tommy Graham) of Asheboro, Justin Shoemaker (Laurie James) of Robbins, and Morgan Crider (Mat Crider) of Troy; his siblings, Tina Cantrell (Chris Cantrell) of Ellijay, Georgia, and Mark Shoemaker (Kasha Rose) of Jasper, Georgia. He is also survived by those who called him Grampy and loved him so much, his grandchildren, Lylah Shoemaker, Aireal Graham, Cheyenne Crider, Dominic Crider, Bella Graham, and Rowan Shoemaker.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers that you donate money to help offset the expenses of the funeral.
