Nathaniel Dixon "Nathan" McCormick

Mr. Nathaniel Dixon "Nathan" McCormick, 88, of 10841 Hasty Road died Monday, August 9, at his home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the McCormick family cemetery officiated by Dr. Rodger Decker.
He is survived by his son, Nathan McCormick, Jr. of Laurinburg; two daughters, Jeanette Herlocker of Laurinburg and Margaret Owen of Oak Ridge, TN; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Carlyle McCormick and his wife, Nancy Carnes McCormick.
Born January 28, 1916, in Scotland County, he was a son of the late John Coble and Iris Bolton McCormick. His ancestors arrived up the Cape Fear River in 1791 from Appin, Argyll, Scotland and originally settled in the Smyrna Church area of Scotland County. Nathan was a US Army Captain in World War II, serving with counter intelligence in Europe. He later worked with Ingraham Corporation and was a life long farmer, operating a popular produce stand beside his home.
For over 30 years Nathan has served as the Chief of Clan MacCormick Nathan was raised as a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
