Mrs. Nannie Belle Dunkley Smart, 91, of Willow Haven died Wednesday, August 4, at Manor House in Gastonia.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Denny Wise. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by a son, Cecil Smart of Bennettsville, SC; three daughters, Velma Wood of Reading, PA, Hilda Jahnke of Camden, SC, and Tena Beauchamp of Gastonia; two brothers, Arnold Dunkley and Cleo Dunkley of Roxboro; a sister, Esther Perkins of Roxboro; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Born June 11, 1909 in Virgilina, NC, she was a daughter of the late Richard King and Etta Tuck Dunkley and widow of the late Alonzo G. Smart. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Shady Rest Restaurant in Laurinburg. She was also a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
