Myra Joy Cooper Ward

Myra Joy Cooper Ward, 85, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at her residence.

A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hillside Memorial Park.

She is survived by her sons, Alan Brigman of Laurinburg, Richard Brigman of Pittsboro, and Christopher Brigman of McColl, SC; her step-daughters, Wanda Callahan, Vickie Scott, and Lindy Goins of Laurinburg; her brother, Zeb "Jim" Cooper of Wake Forest; her sisters, Jean Giles of Florence, KY, Tetta Henson of Shawnee, OK, and Molly Hayes of Laurinburg; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Dean Brigman.

Born February 24, 1928 in Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Mary Ellen Spry Cooper. She was also the widow of the late Dupree Ward. She was a retired secretary for Domestic Gas, where she served for many years. She also enjoyed visiting the beach with her family, and once enjoyed golf.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
