Laurinburg
Mrs. Minna Greene Hall, 94, died Thursday, November 26, 2009.
A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church
officiated by the Revs. Ralph Brown and Roy McCook. Visitation will follow in the
church fellowship hall.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Fred Hall; a son, Michael Hall of Asheboro,
two daughters, the Rev. Patricia Hall Stone of Laurinburg and Marilyn Hall Holcomb of
Virginia Beach; a brother, Dwight Greene of Raleigh; three sisters, Kate Greer of
Wilkesboro, Mary Fox of Williamsburg, VA, and Peggy Leviner of Morganton, four
grandchildren, Shawna Hayden, Robyne Davis, Scott Stone, and Joshua Holcomb; six
great grandchildren.
Born May 1, 1915 in Deep Gap, she was a daughter of the late Heggie and Maude Wellborn Greene. She married Fred Hall on December 23, 1938 and later moved to Laurinburg when Fred was employed at the Laurinburg-Maxton Airbase in World War II. She operated Minna's Beauty Shop for over 50 years.
Minna was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was in the Betsy Sanford Sunday School Class. She was also active in the Garden Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Woodmen of the World, and was a volunteer for the
American Red Cross.
