Mildred Hunt Locklear, 83, died Monday, October 26, 2009.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Revs. Gary Wilson and Jerry Wilkes. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by four sons, J. C. Hunt and wife, Judy and Robert Earl Locklear of Laurinburg, James Earl Locklear of Maxton and Ricky Locklear and wife, Claudia of Charlotte; six daughters, Mary Lois Hunt and Doris Hunt of Fairmont, Geraldine Covington and Shirley Martin and husband, Jerry of Laurinburg, Carol Jean Melton and husband, Ray of Laurel Hill, and Dianne Hudson and husband, Donald of Gibson; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Born October 11, 1926 in Pembroke, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Bettie Jacobs Hunt and widow of the late Archie Locklear. She will be remembered as the "mother of her neighborhood" displaying abundant love for neighboring children and grandchildren. She was always the first to help someone and was always willing and working to do things for others.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
