Mildred Fearrington Gibson

Mildred Fearrington Gibson, a resident of Scotia Village, died on January 27, 2003. She was born October 13, 1909 in the original village of Fearrington in Chatham County NC, the daughter of the late Thomas Burke Fearrington and Grace Wynne Fearrington. She had lived in Scotland County since her marriage in 1934 to the late Nathan Hargrave ("Buddie") Gibson.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, and by her guardian uncle and aunt, George Victor Wynne and Ruth S. Wynne of Durham.
After graduation from Flora McDonald College in 1931, she taught Home Economics at Maxton High School. After moving to Scotland County, in addition to being devoted to her family, she was active in Church in the Pines (Presbyterian) in Laurel Hill. Later she returned to the school system as a social worker, tending the basic needs of Laurel Hill Schoola
