Michael James Mcnickle
August 20, 1957 — February 26, 2017
Mr. Michael James McNickle, 59, passed away February 26, 2017 after a long illness.
He was born August 20, 1957 in Battle Creek, MI to the late James Byron & Mae Burns McNickle.
Michael coached little league ball in various capacities in Scotland County. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping. In his later years, Michael’s enjoyment in life was found in his three grandsons who he enjoyed spending time with.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Janet Meads McNickle of the home; sons, Justin McNickle (Amanda) of Laurel Hill, and Byron McNickle of Asheboro; grandsons, Ayden, Maddox, & Cooper; sister-in-law, Donna Plants of Laurinburg; brothers, Brad McNickle of Sanford, and Gary McNickle of Indiana; nephews, Shawn and Matthew; great nieces, Bella & Katherine.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held 7 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Johns United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Harold Hunt. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
