Michael Alexander McDougald, 28, died suddenly Friday, November 11, 2011.
A memorial service will be 6:00 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Gene Tyson. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium and following the memorial service on Monday in the church fellowship hall.
He is survived by his parents, Beacham and Lynn Hannah McDougald of Laurinburg; his twin sister, Hannah McDougald of Leland; his daughter, Elizabeth Amelia "Lizi" McDougald of Laurinburg; his son, Christopher Monroe Hankins of Rockingham; his grandmother, Amelia H. "Midge" English of Laurinburg; and his dog and constant companion, Oatie.
Michael was born August 11, 1983 in Louisiana and was adopted along with his sister by Lynn and Beacham McDougald when they were 4 years and 3 months old. He attended public schools in Scotland County and the O'Neal School in Southern Pines.
Michael or "Mike" as known by his friends was a free-spirited young man who loved a good joke with his family and friends. He enjoyed working outdoors and worked for several years in landscaping. His dog Oatie was his good friend and Michael enjoyed taking care of her.
