Born on December 5, 1987, in Stanly County, he is the son of Thomas Sherrill Corbett of Columbia, SC and Kimberly Johnson Corbett of Charleston, SC. Michael's early years were marked by a contagious enthusiasm for life and a natural athleticism. He graduated from West Montgomery High School in 2006, where he distinguished himself as an all-conference athlete in football, basketball, and track.
Michael's journey took him to Rutherfordton with his family after high school. Later he would attend Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. His innate ability to connect with people and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to join the family car business for a time. However, his ambition and keen eye for opportunity soon saw him transition into a successful career in real estate. As a realtor with REAL Brokerage, LLC, Michael served the Gaston and Mecklenburg counties with distinction, earning the respect and trust of his clients and peers.
Michael was a devoted and loving father to his two sons, Braxton Michael Corbett, age 9, and Chance Edward Corbett, age 6. His world revolved around his boys, and he embraced every moment spent with them. Whether it was embarking on adventures to the mountains, enjoying the tranquility of the beach, or savoring a simple movie night complete with candy and popcorn, Michael's role as a father was the one he cherished most.
Michael's creative talents extended beyond his professional life. A self-taught photographer and videographer, he utilized these skills to enhance his real estate business. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for gardening and hiking, activities that brought him peace and joy.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his beloved sons, Braxton Michael Corbett and Chance Edward Corbett; his brother, Kendall Corbett of Charleston, SC; grandmother, Carol Lee of Troy; uncle, Clint Johnson of Charleston, SC; aunts, Sheryl Ann Saunders of Garner, Teresa Owens of Oak Island, and Peggy Berry of Denver; and a tapestry of cousins and close friends who were blessed to know him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Colon Johnson of Albemarle and Rita Corbett of Troy.
Memorials may be made to the NC Circle of Hope, 1522 Jones Franklin Road, Raleigh, NC, 27606.
