Maxine Mcgee Norton

Maxine McGee Norton, 75 of Laurel HIll, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Church in the Pines, officiated by the Rev. Crystal Blue.  Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 -3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Born September 22, 1942 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late S. Paul and Lucy Haywood McGee.  She was an Income Maintenance Case Worker with Scotland County Social Services for 16 years and was a lifetime member of Church in the Pines.  She attended Flora McDonald College in Red Springs and was a substitute teacher for the Scotland County school system before retirement.  After retirement, she was a homemaker and loved working in her rose garden.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Leroy W. Norton of the home; a son, Philip W. Norton of the home; a sister Mary Helen McGee Norton and husband, Donald of Laurinburg; a special nephew, David McCabe and wife, Sandra; and special niece, Mary Norton Quick and husband, Wesley.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Lois McGee McCabe.
