Mattie Jeffery

Mattie Jeffery, 72, of Clio, S.C., passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the McDougald Funeral Home Bumgarner Chapel, officiated by Rev. Joel Quick. Burial will follow in White Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Wallace, S.C.

Born November 23, 1946 in Scotland County, NC., she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Annabell Jacobs Strickland. She retired as a sewer from Charles Craft, Inc. Her joy in life was spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. She loved to sew and listen to music.

She is survived by her children, Laura Hicks of Bennettsville, Cecil Jeffery Jr. of Laurel Hill, Ronald Jeffery of Bennettsville and Lisa Jeffery McClaurin of Clio, S.C.; her siblings, James Strickland of Gibson, Sarah Locklear, Patricia Locklear, David Strickland and Gail Oxendine all of Laurinburg, Billy Strickland of Angier, Herbert Strickland of Maxton and Nellie Dennis of Laurel Hill; special friends, Cheryl Warner, Brandy, Beth, Holly and McInnis; seven grandchildren, Angelica Strickland, Jessica Ellis, Shannon Talbert, Ashley Jeffery, Patrick Jeffery, Leslie Jeffery and Ronald A. Jeffery; seventeen great grandchildren, Dixie Strickland, Kinsley Strickland, Buddy Strickland Jr., Alissa Taylor, Alexis Jeffery, Arieana Jacobs, Dewayne Ellis, Bella Walters, Landon Cummings, Lydia Cole, Amiya Jeffery, Raelynn Carter, Kashlyn Jeffery, Ciara Norton, Jordan Walcott, Cameron Cummings and Ashwin Hicks; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Cecil Jeffery Sr., grandson, Kevin Hicks, great grandchildren, Nevaeh Ellis and Cecil Ellis, brothers, Bobby Strickland and Johnny Strickland, and daughter-in-law, Susan Jeffery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
