Mrs. Mary Sue Ray Hicks 80, of Old Wire Road died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in the Pines with burial following at Hillside Memorial Park.
Born August 25, 1924 in Cherryville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Florence Pridgen Ray.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Coleman and husband, Harry of Laurel Hill and Robin Parker and husband, Billy of Florence, SC; a brother, Bobby "HW" Ray and wife, Betty of Laurinburg; two grandchildren, Charlotte Johns and husband, Brad of Sanford, Christopher "Kris" Coleman and wife, Meg of Laurel Hill; three great grandchildren, Kristian Johns, Austin Johns and Kinsley Raye Johns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Z. "Jack" Hicks.
Sue was an active member of Presbyterian Church in the Pines where she was an Elder and chaired the Women of the Church. She was a member of the Laurel Hill Community Fellowship.
In August of 2004, Sue celebrated her 80th birthday at the Presbyterian Church in the Pines with a drop-in, attended by many friends and family as well as former high school friends to help celebrate. She loved to go places with her family and friends as well as doing embroidery for them. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Sue was a special mother, grandmother, Mema, Meme, and firend and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
