Mrs. Mary Charles Odom Gainey, 56, of N. Sandhill Drive S.W., died Tuesday, April 11, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. L. D. Kimrey, Rev. Richard Hicks and Rev. Hoyt King. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Gainey; one son, Jack William Toolen, III of Vigrinia Beach; two daughters, Alecia Litton and husband, Chad of Charlotte and Mary Patterson and husband, Richard of Fort Myers, FL; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Deaver and Donna Lynn Gainey of Rockingham; one grandchild and three step-grandchildren.
Born November 26, 1949 in Scotland County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wallace and Mary Odom. Mary Charles was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Supply, NC. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, working in the yard and cooking.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of NC, 5950 Fairview Rd., Ste. 550, Charlotte, NC 28210-2102 or to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
