Mary Elizabeth McCallum Sligh

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McCallum Sligh, 84, of 412 Lanoca Ave. died Friday, October 14, at Morrison Manor.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Eugene "Gene" Sligh; a daughter, Betty Leviner and husband, Mickey of Florence, SC; a son, Mac Sligh of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Jamie Leviner, Emily Leviner, Cal Sligh and Margaret Sligh. She was predeceased by a son, Charles E. "Chuck" Sligh.
Born April 7, 1921 in McColl, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Brown and Mary Elizabeth Bundy McCallum. She was the retired secretary for the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the JOY Sunday school class and JOY Club. Mary was also a member of Scotch Gardeners, a life member of NC Extension Homemakers, past president and member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens, was past chairperson of the NC Association of Senior Citizens; and a recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award from the Laurinburg Jaycees.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
