Mary Jane Leavens Wright

Mrs. Mary Jane Leavens Wright, 78, of 11540 Pinecroft St. died Tuesday, November 9, at Southeastern General Hospital in Lumberton.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Denny Wise officiating.

Born March 24, 1921 in Detroit, she was a daughter of the late Lyman and Ethel Smith Leavens. She was a US Marine Corporal in World War II, serving in the Pacific. For many years she taught high school, elementary school and business college in central California. She moved to Laurinburg in 1997.

She is survived by her husband; Kenneth Wright; two sons, Dr, Gary Wright and his wife, Kathy, of Laurinburg and Steven A. Wright and his wife, Colleen, of Pacifica, CA; 3 grandchildren, Tamara Spurgeon of Seven Lakes, Torin Wright of Carthage, Timon Wright of Aberdeen, and Anthony Ligouri of Pacifica, CA; three great grandchildren, Samara Wright, Kevin Mulaney, and Christopher Ligouri.
