Born December 14, 1917 in Raleigh, she was a daughter of the late Sydney O. and Mary Broughton Garrison.
She was a graduate of Peace College, later working for many years as secretary for Jimmie Bone Insurance, Co., owner of The Carousel children's shop, and Teacher's Assistant at North Laurinburg Elementary School. She was very active at the First Baptist Church, most notably as long-time Sunday School teacher and member of the choir. She enjoyed being a part of the community life in Laurinburg and was a member of three bridge clubs, The Thursday Afternoon Book Club, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, as well as a gifted story reader for her own family as well as numerous children in the community. Although her ability to participate in these activities diminished over the years, she never lost outgoing personality, warm smile, zest for life, and positive spirit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353 and The Scotia Village Foundation, Inc., 2200 Elm Ave., Laurinburg, NC 28352. "A
