Mary Ruth Edwards, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her home.
A funeral service will be 4:00 pm Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. Visitation will be 3-4pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Born October 27, 1933 in Chesterfield County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Wright Grooms. She worked many years at J.P. Stevens in Wagram.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Edwards Sofsky (Ed Miller) of Berlin Center, OH and Pauline Edwards Motley of Savannah, GA; son, “Adopted by heart”, Tim Tippet of Laurinburg; brothers, Sam Grooms of Rockingham and Robert Grooms of Laurel Hill; sisters, Lee Woodard, Carolyn Moffitt and Hilda Dohogn all of Laurel Hill, Linda McCuiston of Rockingham and Elaine Garrison of Chesterfield, SC; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and eight great great-grand children. She is preceded by her daughter Ruby Edwards Norton and a very special son-in-law, Larry Sofsky.
