Mary Ruth Caldwell Gibson

Mary Ruth Caldwell Gibson, 83, passed away Saturday, August 29.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Cemetery, Laurinburg. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
She is survived by her son, Sam Gibson of Laurel Hill; her daughter, Mary Eva Gibson (Doug DeRose) of Charlotte; and her granddaughter, Bailey Gibson DeRose of Charlotte.
A native of Charlotte, she was the widow of the late John Benjamin "Ben" Gibson of Scotland County. She was also a lifetime, active member of Sharon Presbyterian Church, and the DAR. Mary Ruth also enjoyed the Giddy-up and Go Girls who went places together, and helped with meals at the homeless shelter. She also excelled in the oft lost art of writing inspiring notes to sick church members.
