Mary Garrison Bodenhamer, 90, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Scotia Village.

Born April 26, 1926, in Davidson County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Christian Olin and Rosa Shoaf Garrison.  She was a former member of Walburg Baptist Church and Union Cross Baptist Church.  Mary retired from Western Electric, Winston Salem.  She moved to Maxton in 1987 from Forsyth County, NC.  After her move to Maxton, NC, she was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time in her flower beds and garden. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, listening to country music and was an avid shopper.

Mary is survived by: her son, Kerry (Dawne) Bodenhamer, Laurinburg; daughters Vickie (Keith) Workman, Holly Springs and Tara Fielding, Norwich England; a brother, William Garrison of Florida; and grandchildren, Julie (Bill) Carmichael, Cheryl Bodenhamer, Kyle Bodenhamer, Marcus Southern, Charlotte Fielding and William Fielding; great-grandchildren, Lane Roberson and Parks Carmichael.

She was also preceded in death by:  her husband C. L. “June” Bodenhamer; daughter, Christine Susan Bodenhamer; brother, Lawrence "Sonny"  Garrison; and sister, Wanda Westmoreland.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 2, 2017 at McDougald Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Linda Nelson.  Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Mary’s family would like to thank Scotia Village for their compassion and care for their loved one over the past four years.
