Mary Louise Blackwell

Mary Louise Blackwell, age 92, of Laurinburg, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Hospice Haven of Richmond County.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Laurinburg Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Tracy Gross.

Mary was born on November 13, 1933, in Kannapolis, North Carolina and she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Flossie Curly Byrd. Louise enjoyed dancing and having a good time. She loved her family in which she was the heart and the backbone.

She is survived by her children, Vivian Blackwell of Rockingham, Lynn Blackwell of Bolivia, and Allen Blackwell (Marilyn) of Maxton; grandchildren, Freddie Hinson (Tammy) of Hamlet, Chris Blackwell (Sha) and Beth Blackwell both of Laurinburg, Brandon Blackwell (Amy) of Rocky Mount, Bridget Blackwell of Maxton, Brandi Gonzalez (Jonathan) of VA, Jeff Hinson of Rockingham and Houston Blackwell of Bolivia; sisters, Evelyn Fields and Peggy Blackwell both of Laurinburg; brother, Mike Byrd (Sheila) of Wagram; twenty great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ralph Blackwell; granddaughter, Tammy Michelle Blackwell; brother, James Byrd; and sister, Shirley Barber.
