Marvin Shaw "Turkey Man" Lewis, Sr., 78, of Purcell Road Died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Laurel Hill Baptist Church officiated by Don Malpass. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances Newman Lewis; a son, Doug Lewis and wife, Connie of Cape Carteret; two daughters, Josie Cunningham and husband, Phil and Pandy Munger and husband, James of Laurinburg; a daughter-in-law, Gay Averitt Lewis of Laurinburg; a sister, Marie Ard Hansen and husband, Carl of Sumter, SC; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Lewis of Batesburg, SC; 9 grandchildren, Douglas Lewis, Miranda Moore, Shaw Lewis, III, Diana Graves, Myles Johnson, Amanda Cunningham, Ashley Holman, Philip Cunningham, Bryttney Conklin; and 2 great grandchildren, Kolton Graves, Natalie Johnson, Joshua Lewis, and Jack Lewis. He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Shaw Lewis, Jr. in December 2009.
Born June 13, 1931 in Sumter, SC, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Lori Ardis Lewis. For 20 years he was employed with Libby Owens Ford Glass where he retired in 1993 and for 10 years he worked with his late son, Shaw, in turkey farming until his retirement in October, 2009.
An active member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church for 35 years, he served as a deacon, choir member, and Sunday school teacher.
Marvin will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved working on the farm, going to church, taking family vacations, and was a great encourager and follower of Christ, he also loved listening to Christian music.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
