Martha Verna Monroe Norfleet

Mrs. Martha Verna Monroe Norfleet, 88, of 15605 Silver Hill Road finished her course in faith on Sunday, April 1, while at her home.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Howard Whitehurst, the Rev. David Ruth, and the Rev. Bobby Dean.
She is survived by two daughters, Junie Norfleet of Asheville and Martha "Butchie" Norfleet of Laurinburg; two sons, George "Buddyro" Norfleet and Jim Norfleet of Laurinburg; a grandson, Taylor Norfleet of West End, and a foster granddaughter, Amy Harper of Laurinburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, George S. Norfleet and five brothers, Raymond, Bob Ed, Tom, David, and Marion Monroe.
Born April 22, 1918 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Verna Stribling Monroe. A lifelong active and tireless member of Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, she decorated the church for Sunday services, Christmas, and special events, she was instrumental in the setup of the church newsletter and bulletin, she was a former officer in church circles and the Women of the Church, supplied the pork barbecue sauce and hush puppies for church Ingatherings, and compiled and edited several editions of the church cookbook.
Martha was also a retired secretary for McNair Seed Co. and McNair Farms.
She was a positive influence in the lives of her children, her extended family, and numerous young people of the community.
Memorials are requested for Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, 15301 McFarland Rd., Laurinburg, NC 28352 of Advantage Hospice and Home Care, 405 N. Elm St., Lumberton, NC 28358.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
