Martha Mary (Maher) Anthony

Martha Mary Maher Anthony, 101, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at her home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church. All attendees are asked to wear a mask or another form of face covering, and please practice social distancing when possible. A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Martha was born March 16, 1920 in Salem, New Hampshire, but was raised in Hammana, Lebanon and returned to the US in 1953, when she came to Laurinburg and met her late husband of 40 years, Marcus Paul Anthony. She loved to sew which she did for the community for 60 years as well as for her family.  Her hobby was the love for her pets (many cats and dogs) and farm animals that she raised in the past years of her life.

She is survived by her sons, John Anthony of Laurinburg, Charles Anthony (Mark Tolson) of Greensboro, and George Anthony (Jack Branscome) of Charlotte; daughters, Louise Moussa of Laurinburg, and Martha Ann Bolus of Birmingham, AL; brothers, John Maher of Livingston, NJ, and Raymond Maher of Lebanon; her sister, Waidad Ayoub of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Susan Moussa (Larkin Oliver), Mary Elizabeth Rogers (Ben), Christina Anthony (Fiancée, Nick Ashton), John Michael Anthony, and Anthony Bolus (Victoria); and her many nieces and nephews that she so loved and cared for, past and present.
