Marie (Hardister) Hurley

Marie H. Hurley, 83, of Troy, passed from this earth to her eternal home on Friday, August 30, 2024 surrounded by her family

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2024 at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Lynthacum and Rev. Blake Davis.

Marie was born to N.B. and Ruby McLeod Hardister on October 14, 1940. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell of 63 years, the love of her life; her sister, Mary Jane Hall and; grandson, Adam Birckhead

Marie retired from General Electric/Black and Decker. Aside from her love for the Lord and her family she loved music.  She was part of the Hardister Family and the Country Echoes gospel quartets for many years.  In her later years, she pursued guitar and dobro lessons.  We want to thank Tim Moon for his encouragement to her even when she couldn’t remember her chords.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Birckhead and Lisa Lynthacum (Bill); grandchildren, Megan Housley (Brandon), Bo Lynthacum (Sydney) and Cody Lynthacum; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bryson, Madilyn, and Brayden; sister, Frankye Hill (Gilbert); brother, Norman Hardister; sister in laws, Susie Harvell (Raymond) and Faye Hurley.

To all the wonderful neighbors who have been there for the last two and a half years, whether it was bringing food or sitting with Momma while we mowed the yard and keeping her turned in the bed.  Your kindness will be remembered forever.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.
