Margie Merlene (Callicutt) Lucas

Margie Merlene Lucas, 87, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Church of Abner, officiated by Rev. Bill Knapp. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Born June 9, 1935, in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Madie Hurley Callicutt. Margie had been employed with Renfro Hosiery for over 42 years as a knitter. She loved her flowers and working in the garden. She enjoyed heater house feeding her cows and loved her last baby calf, “Fluffier”, that she had bottle fed.

Margie played a big part in raising her niece and nephew, Annette Greene (Chris) and Josh Callicutt (Ashley), which made a huge impact on them. She loved and adored her great nephew, Chase Callicutt, who she called “her baby doll”. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Margie was a very close friend for many years to her sister-in-law, Alliene Callicutt.

She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, and great nephew. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hillary Lucas; brothers, Albert Callicutt, Reece Callicutt, Dewey Callicutt, Delbert Callicutt, Walter Callicutt, Jr., Kenneth Callicutt, and Howard Callicutt; sisters, Edna Farlow, Jean Lucas, Earlene Wright, and Diane Auman.
