Margie Francis (Burgess) Jacobs

Margie Francis Burgess Jacobs, passed away at Scotia Village on February 26, 2025, at the age of 81.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Don Malpass and Dr. Rony Kozman. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at the home at 309 Pecan Lane, Laurinburg, North Carolina 28352 after the service.

Born on October 6, 1943, in Harnett County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Lincoln Francis Burgess and Blanche Smith Burgess. Professionally, Margie was a nurse who devoted more than four decades to the medical field. She was well-respected and beloved by her colleagues and patients alike, having spent 28 years at Laurinburg Surgical Clinic, where she held various positions.

Margie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A faithful member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, she embodied the love and teachings of her faith. Her love for children glowed brightly as she taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. ‘

Margie is survived by her sons, Eddie Jacobs of Gibson, Scott Jacobs(special friend, Angie Walls) of Black Mountain, and Richard Jacobs (Amy) of Lumberton; daughter-in-law, Sandi Cheek; brothers, Wayne Burgess (Lib) and Sonny Burgess; aunt, Dean Greene; grandchildren, Blair Locklear (Tony), Megan Kozman (Rony), Ashley Jacobs, Paige Jacobs, and Brady Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Vincent Locklear, Samiah Sanderson, Gracie Locklear, Lincoln Kozman, Levi Kozman, Luca Kozman, Elizabeth Tanner, Preston Jacobs, Kyndall Jacobs, Liam Smith, and Reagan Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded by her husband, James Jacobs; sisters, Mary Wombel and Jean Baird; and brother, Jim Burgess.
