Mrs. Margaret Dixon McMillan McLaurin of Laurinburg died peacefully at her home Wednesday, August 10, 2005.

Mrs. McLaurin was born June 28, 1908 in Scotland County to the late Hector C. and Sallie McMillan. She was a former member of the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian and a long time member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. She attended Peace College in Raleigh. In 1934 she married the late Roy D. McLaurin and was a devoted wife and homemaker who enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Mrs. McLaurin was a charter member of the Halcyon Bridge Club, and a member of the Scotland Memorial Foundation, and the Tower Club at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. A loving mother to her daughter, Jean, "MaMac," as she was affectionately known, greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. McLaurin was preceded in death by her husband, Roy: her brothers, Joseph, Sellars, Will, and Ernest; and her sisters, Maie, Sarah, and Emma Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean McLaurin Graham of Raleigh; three grandchildren, William McLaurin Graham and wife, Christine, of Isle of Palms, SC, John McMillan Graham and wife, Lisa, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Sally Graham Helweg and husband, Joe, of Charlotte; and five great grandchildren, Margaret Dixon Graham, Riley Marie Graham, John Walbridge Helweg, Elizabeth Cooke Helweg, and William Graham Helweg.

A visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home. A private burial will be followed by a memorial service 11 a.m. Friday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Carter officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, 600 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352, and the McLaurin Scholarship at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, 1700 Dogwood Mile, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
