Margaret "Majo" (Mclean) Wilkes

Margaret McLean Wilkes (Majo) was born to the late Ernest Sr. and Sue Laura McLean on May 10,1934. She departed this earthly life peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Midway Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Whitehurst.  Interment will follow at Caledonia Methodist Church Cemetery.

Majo was a follower of Christ and was loved by all who knew her. She lived a full life. She married her soulmate, Atha Rowell Wilkes Jr, on January 6, 1947. She received her nursing degree in Charlotte, NC and served faithfully at Scotland Memorial Hospital for many years while raising a beautiful family. Majo was a proud member of Midway Presbyterian Church. She loved puzzles, square dancing and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Majo was the matriarch of the family and played an enormous role in each of our lives. To say, she will be missed, is truly an understatement. She is preceded in death by her husband, Atha Rowell Wilkes Jr.; children, Lisa Vallandingham (Earl); grandsons, Chesley Wilkes and Adam Wilkes Vallandingham; parents, Ernest Sr. and Sue Laura McLean; siblings, Lona Mae McLean, Pete McLean, Joe McLean, Ernest McLean Jr., and Nancy Colby Majo leaves her cherished memories to her children, Warren Wilkes (Linda), Jeff Wilkes, and Lona Behannon (Mark); grandchildren, Jeremiah Marinelli, Earl Vallandingham III, Jennifer Itskowitch, Jeffrey Wilkes, Brandi Wilkes, Candace McCreary, Dillon Wilkes, Carrie Farina, Jacob Vallandingham, Justin Behannon, and Amy Vallandingham; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who she absolutely adored.
