Mrs. Mamie Doris Oates Russell, 78, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Northview Harvest Ministries officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Blease. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
She is survived by four sons, John Russell and Mark Russell, Jr. of Maxton, Ricky Russell of Columbia, SC, and Dale Russell of Laurinburg; four daughters, Constance Durrett of Columbia, SC, Victoria Brown of Laurinburg, Faye Lane of Rockedge, FL, and Jeannie Russell of Marston; a sister, Lois Wagner of East Laurinburg; two half-brothers, Charles Oates and O'Neal Oates of Dillon, SC; two half-sisters, Shelby Johnson and Carol Baker of Dillon, SC; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Glenn Russell.
Born May 14, 1929 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Bessie Driggers Oates. She was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens and West Point/Stevens.
