Mrs. Maggie Dial Harris, 89, of 9581 Stewartsville Cemetery Road, died Friday morning at her home.
Funeral services were 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Gray Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Cummings and Horace Oxendine officiating. Burial followed in the family cemetery.
Born May 1, 1911, in Robeson County she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Barton Dial. Her husband Wardell Harris preceded her in death. A retired schoolteacher with the Scotland County School System, Mrs. Harris attended Gray Pond Baptist Church.
Survivors include an adopted son, Dr. Glenn Harris of Laurinburg; three step sons; Frank Harris and Daris Harris both of Laurinburg and Dr. Horace Harris of Dunn; two step daughters, Verdie Harding and Letha Mae Locklear both of Laurinburg; two brothers, Burnis Dial and Alvin Dial both of Rowland; four sisters, Ziatta Bullard of Maxton, Sarah Ann Locklear of Rowland, Suphronia Dial of Downey, CA and Mary Dial of Idaho. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends also survive her.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
