Magelene "Doodle Bug" Deese Kilton

Magelene "Doodle Bug" Deese Kilton, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at Scotland County Regional Hospice at the age of 80, surrounded by her loved ones.

The visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel in Laurinburg. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at East Laurinburg Church of God, officiated by Rev. Harry Clark, Rev. Ricky Deese and Rev. Terry Marshall.

Born on September 1, 1945, in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late James Will Deese and Magelene McGirt Deese.

Magelene dedicated 18 years of her professional life to Golf Pride before retiring. She was an active member of the East Laurinburg Church of God, where she found great joy in spending time with her family, church community, and caring for those around her. Her nurturing personality and loving nature endeared her to many, creating lasting connections with those fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Deese (Lisa) of Laurinburg and Alan Kilton (Michelle) of Prospect; her granddaughter, Samantha "Sam"; her great-grandson, Asher; and her sisters, Elizabeth Marshall of Maxton and Cindy Lewis of Laurinburg.

Magelene was preceded in death by her brothers, James "Bunky" Deese, William "Rufus" Deese, and Robert Deese; and her sister, Pauline "Bibby" Deese.
